Now With Built-In Anti-Phishing Protection
|
ColdCallBlocker™ subscriptions now include anti-phishing technology to protect you, your finances and your personal information.
A new type of scam is becoming more and more common where fraudsters cold-call people claiming to be from well known service providers such as telephone companies, energy providers or cell phone operators.
Using a number of various techniques,
they quickly convince the subject of the scam that their last payment was rejected or otherwise not processed successfully
and as a result their telephone/electricity/television service is in imminent danger of being suspended.
They then offer to try to "help" the customer out on this occasion by taking a one-off card payment to settle the apparent "arrears" in order to prevent any interruption to the service.
Needless to say, the caller is NOT from your telephone or energy provider or whoever they claim to be.
This is in fact what is called a "phishing attack" where criminal gangs try to siphon money out of bank or credit card accounts belonging to their victims.
|
There is some good news though! Thankfully, the same techniques that we use to successfully stop telemarketers from calling our members also work just as well with fraudsters and scammers.
The ColdCallBlocker Network™ continuously monitors for reports of suspicious telephone calls requesting payment information such as credit card details.
As soon as a new phishing scam commences, the telephone numbers used in the attack are blocked so the perpetrators are unable to call and defraud any member of the ColdCallBlocker Network™.
